There was a period of times before leaving Hanoi when the person behind 11 Rugs Vietnam began paying more attention to the tangled power lines stretching across the city sky.
They appeared everywhere – draped over old rooftops, bending through narrow alleys, overlapping each other in the late afternoon light of Hanoi.
Chaotic, yet rhythmic.
Random, yet holding a unique beauty.
Those electric lines gradually turned into sketches. No longer just part of the city’s infrastructure, they resembled lines of memory hanging in the sky. All the lines in the design were inspired by these wires, simplified into soft, long, and continuous movements, like a form of the city’s handwriting.
The beige background was kept, like the color of old walls, old paper, and the late sunlight over Hanoi’s old neighborhoods: warm and full of nostalgia.
The design doesn’t tell a very clear story.
But it captures the feeling of a city just before leaving.
